Bible Problem: 2 Chronicles 8:10 vs 1 Kings 9:23. Did Solomon Have 250 Officers or 550?

Bible Problem: 2 Chronicles 8:10 vs 1 Kings 9:23. One Verse Says that Solomon Had 250 Officers and the Other Gives 550.

Problem:

2 Chronicles 8:10 says:

And these were the chief of king Solomon’s officers, even two hundred and fifty, that bare rule over the people.

1 Kings 9:23 says:

These were the chief of the officers that were over Solomon’s work, five hundred and fifty, which bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.

So were there 250 or 550 officers?

Solution:

The 250 chief officers in 2 Chronicles 8:10 “bare rule over the people.”

The 550 chief officers in 1 Kings 9:23 “bare rule over the people that wrought in the work.”

The verses are talking about two different groups of chief officers. 250 chief officers were in charge of the people of Solomon’s kingdom, and there were another 550 chief officers who were in charge of the workers.
